Role Overview

Reporting into the IT Manager, the Senior IT Engineer will be a hands-on role within a highly fast-paced environment working with some of the largest brands in the world. The Senior IT Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance and support of Blue Square’s core server and desktop infrastructure.

The role is an internal customer facing role and as such requires excellent communication and customer service skills. The position requires effective management and prioritisation of own tasks, excellent responsiveness to issues and problems as well as the ability to contribute to an environment oriented on trust, open communication, creative thinking and cohesive team effort.

All suitable candidates should reside no more than 50 miles away from the vacancy location. Candidates who live outside of the requirement will not be considered.

Main Duties and Areas of Responsibility

• Keep abreast of changes in the standards, technologies or methodologies
• Take part in IT related projects including system integration
• Providing technical lead in IT related projects
• Providing engineering team lead and escalation point
• Delivering results and meeting customer expectations
• Identifying the best solutions through technology to meet short to long term needs
• Risk assessment and risk management
• Coordinate application of software releases and patches
• Monitors and maintains quality and productivity
• Deputise for the IT Manager and attend meetings, trainings or seminars
• Support in coordinating the needs of stakeholders across the business
• Be mindful of stability, security, resilience, and disaster recovery needs
• Effectively communicate concepts and ideas to different audience types and gain management buy-in
• Understand and document detailed configuration of all systems
• Report security events or potential events to the IT Manager or Head of Operations
• Ensure delivery of task is efficient, accurate and conducted in a timely manner
• Providing fault diagnosis and treatment to address problems
• Mentoring, coaching and training skills of other team members

Person Specification

• Excellent technical knowledge of:
• Microsoft Windows Server Knowledge (2016 R2) including (AD, AAD, DNS, Group Policy, WDS, Domain Hosting)
• Microsoft Windows 10
• Virtualisation Technologies (Hyper-V)
• HP / Nimble Storage Area Network Systems
• Scripting Knowledge Windows PowerShell
• Microsoft InTune MDM and MAM Solutions
• Palo Alto Firewall Administration
• Documenting Processes and procedures
• Software and hardware troubleshooting
• Ability to consider the larger picture as well as configuration at a detailed level
• Excellent communication skills including verbal and written
• Understanding of ITIL and ISO’s (27001, 9001)
• Project Management and budget control high desirable
